Project Brief

The John Thomas Dye School, nestled in a beautiful Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles, evolved from a dream of John and Cathryn Dye in 1929 who worked tirelessly to provide top quality education for many years through the great depression, World War II and a massive fire which destroyed much of the school.

In 2013 UNILAV design was awarded the contract to redesign, restore and update all the restrooms in the East and West wings that were built in the 1950’s. Needless to say, after sixty years there were a few items that required some attention. Special care was taken the preserve the aura surrounding the facility while making sure that the upgraded amenities would fully comply with all current disability, energy and water conservation requirements.

The extensive project was scheduled to be completed during the summer recess and required precision execution since it was imperative that it be 100% complete and signed off by the city officials a week before classes resumed. We beat the target by two days.
